The Apollo Fireball V is the successor to some of the oldest micronational journals in existence.

It was relaunched in November 2008 after gap in publishing of about a year-and-a-half, prior to which it was known as the Apollo Inquisitor, following the 2004 merger between the Inquisitor and the Apollo Furball.

The Inquisitor was the final journal in a series created by Lachlan Powers of Aerlig, also comprising the Micronational Inquisitor (2003) and the Aerlig Post (2002).

The Apollo Furball was created in 2004 by Eoin Dornan of Treesia as a replacement for the two journals founded by Scott of Hyperborea, the original Apollo Fireball (2000) and its immediate successor the Apollo Skyline (2002).
